Steering Committee

                                The Steering Committee in Kerala's Grama Panchayats is responsible for coordinating the activities of all other standing committees and leading major administrative decisions.

This committee consists of the Panchayat President as the Chairperson, along with the Vice President and the Chairpersons of all other Standing Committees as members. The Grama Panchayat Secretary acts as its Convener.

Here is a summary of the key duties and responsibilities of the Steering Committee:

 

 Coordination of Activities

  • Committee Coordination: Coordinate the functions of the four standing committees (Finance, Development, Welfare, and Health-Education) to ensure their activities do not overlap or conflict with one another.

  • Conflict Resolution: Discuss and resolve any differences of opinion or disputes that may arise between different standing committees on various issues.

     

Review of Agendas and Resolutions

  • Panchayat Meeting Agenda: Scrutinize and arrange the agendas and resolutions to be discussed during the ultimate Panchayat Governing Body meetings.

  • Prioritization: Determine and prioritize urgent or highly important matters that need to be addressed first during the general Panchayat meetings.

     

 Administrative Guidance

  • Policy Formulation: Provide necessary suggestions and advice to the Panchayat Governing Body regarding general development policies and administrative matters of the Panchayat.

  • Special Deliverables: Execute specific tasks and directives entrusted to it from time to time by the general Panchayat Governing Body.
