2. Vattathil Waterfalls

Vattathil Waterfalls is a beautiful tourist destination located at Kalladathanni (Poredom) near Chadayamangalam in the Kollam district. It is situated just about 5–7 kilometers away from Chadayamangalam Jatayu Rock.

                           Unique Features
  • Rare Phenomenon: The waterfall gets its name 'Vattathil' (meaning 'in a circle') because water swirls and flows like a whirlpool at the confluence of two streams.

  • Flow Style: Instead of cascading down from a great height like conventional waterfalls, the water here froths and gushes through multi-tiered rock formations.

  • Serene Atmosphere: A part of the Ithikkara River, this waterfall is a scenic and less-crowded hidden gem. Visitors need to walk about 200 meters through rubber plantations to reach this spot.

                         Visitor Information
  • Location: The waterfall can be reached via Perappayam on the Chadayamangalam - Paripally Road, or via Cheriya Velinalloor on the Ayoor Road.

  • Best Time to Visit: While it can be visited at any time, the monsoon and post-monsoon seasons (June to January) are the most ideal times to experience it.
