Vattathil Waterfalls
Vattathil Waterfalls is a beautiful tourist destination located at Kalladathanni (Poredom) near Chadayamangalam in the Kollam district. It is situated just about 5–7 kilometers away from the Chadayamangalam Jatayu Para.
Highlights
Unique Phenomenon: The waterfall gets its name 'Vattathil' (meaning 'in a circle') because at the confluence of two streams, the water swirls and flows in a circular motion like a whirlpool.
Flow Pattern: Instead of plunging down from a great height like conventional waterfalls, the water here foams and cascades through tiered, rocky formations.
Serene Atmosphere: Part of the Ithikkara River, this waterfall is a scenic and less crowded hidden gem. Visitors need to walk about 200 meters through rubber plantations to reach this spot.
Information for Visitors
Location: The destination can be reached via Perappayam on the Chadayamangalam - Parippally Road, or via Cheriya Velinalloor on the Ayur Road.
Best Time to Visit: Although it can be visited at any time, the monsoon and post-monsoon periods (June to January) are the most ideal times to experience it.
